Sliced oranges with cinnamon and olive oil
At a time when less is more, this quick-to-prepare sliced oranges with cinnamon recipe will win your heart with its simplicity and deliciousness!
At the time of this post, James and I have just moved to a small farm, south of Lisbon, Portugal. We are now delighted owners of about 70 fruit trees, mostly citrus fruits.
Knowing absolutely nothing about any form of agriculture, or even gardening, my first concern was to avoid waste.
First, I tried freezing orange juice in ice trays, but that didn’t work. After about a week, when I defrosted the cubes to see if there was any change in flavour, the juice was bitter.
Our oranges are organic (though not certified), sweet and very juicy (at least the ones we have tried so far!)
With the number of oranges and tangerines growing every day, I launched a challenge on Facebook and Instagram asking people to send me vegan-friendly recipes that include either oranges or tangerines.
The objective was to select the ones I could try, considering the availability of ingredients at this time of lockdown, and post the ones that worked out.
This first recipe of sliced oranges with cinnamon and olive oil was my first trial.
When Rita sent me this recipe I thought, “Hum… orange and cinnamon sounds great, but I am not sure about the olive oil”.
To my surprise, the combination of cinnamon and olive oil with the oranges brought up the delicious individual flavours.
Thank you, Rita!

2 Oranges
- Cinnamon powder

PREPARATION
- Slice 2 medium-sized oranges. (I leave a bit of the fibre on purpose to help with sugar absorption).
